My pals on my facebook 365 Project really liked this one. So I thought I would show the before and after. I am not a huge fan of post processing. Partially because I am not good at it so I avoid it. But also because I am a less is more kind a gal. I have always been drawn to a photojournalist style of photography and with that comes a desire to show the moment how it actually occurred. However, sometime the camera doesn't catch the moment how it really occurred and some processing helps get things right.
And sometimes, a little processing is just fun and makes for a neat photo. Like in this case. It has a whimsical fantasy feel. Before the processing the photo was pretty bland and boring and I probably would have just deleted it.
It has been fun learning this week. Wonder what I will learn next week. =)
You should enter it in a juried show or an online contest or something! I am with you on the photo journalism thing but actually seeing you do the processing the last few weeks is why I started using picnik again - it's really fun! Thanks for getting me hooked up with the photo project, I am enjoying it! (PS The author talks about photography in that One Thousand Gifts book...now that I am done with The Help I am reading it again and it really is a powerful book.)
ReplyDeleteThanks Kim!! The Pioneer Woman has photo assignments often. Maybe one will eventually be a category this photo fits in. She seems to like photos with a lot of processing. Half the ones she picks are black and white or a soft sepia it seems.
ReplyDeleteCan't believe you read the Help that fast. I enjoyed it but it probably took me 2 weeks. I now have a stack of 6 books I have started and need to finish. One is a Lisa Kleypas book I found on clearance at Borders! YAY
